After using Todo, Life Balance, RTM's app, and Things, I think I've
narrowed down my playing field to Todo and Life Balance. I love how
fast Todo is, and, even though I've paid $25 to RTM for the year
subscription, I sync it with Toodledo flawlessly, and the Toodledo
web interface is a bit better (although uglier) than RTM's. Just like
you guys, I too hate "feature bloat" and some of the ideas mentioned
on this forum sound like great ideas, although for a very small
amount of people, I have a few that shouldn't change anyone's user
interface experience directly. I've already mentioned some of these
improvements, but I've come to realize that if they were implemented
as preferences, then people could keep Todo exactly as it is today if
they wish.
I've mentioned before that it would be nice if each list had a sort
preference. Actually as I think of it though, I would love to see the
Focus List only have its own sort by preference (just as it does its
own filter preference, etc.) That way I can keep my Focus list sorted
by priority, but have all other lists kept sorted by date. As it is
now, if I want to check out another list ("Bills" for instance), I
have to go to the prefs and switch to sort by date, then save and go
back into the Bills list, then switch it back to priority when I'm done.
Secondly, options to show or not show certain parts of the interface
would be very nice. Todo has a nice looking list, but it can be a bit
cluttered on the eye with the priority bars, priority icon bars, due
date, and folder name all showing for each todo. It would be nice to
have a preference like "show priority bars: On/Off" "show due date:
on/off" so if we don't want that info in the main list we can
eliminate that.
Lastly, I know how hard it is to keep one app compatible with two
different online services, and I'm amazed that you've been able to do
it this well, so I don't know if this feature request will fly, as is
it a Toodledo feature. Would it be possible to add a Start Date field
ONLY if you sync with Toodledo? In other words, if the user chooses
RTM as their service, that field is hidden and not used. I'm not a
programmer, but it seems that would be a way to implement a much
requested field and not break the compatibility.
Again, just a few interface suggestions that hopefully keep Todo the
fast and great todo app that it already is. Thanks!!!
