I agree with the OP. I think we all agree that a killer feature of Todo is it's ability to keep our tasks in the cloud via either Toodledo or RTM. No argument there.
But I'm a RTM user and even with Fluid on the Mac, the RTM site is a bit of a pain to navigate and use. Maybe I just haven't gotten the hang of it but adding tags and due dates seems to take me a few extra clicks. I'd love to have a nice Mac (and Windows) client that still syncs to the cloud service but just provides a rich UI on top. Especially when you see all the great Mac task managers like Things, OmniFocus and the new The Hit List...these apps are very functional and look good and that helps make us want to use them. For the the perfect model is Evernote. They push everything to the Cloud and provide access via browser, iPhone app, Windows client and Mac client. This is the real model--keep the data in the cloud but allow me to work with that data locally in a rich, "real" application.
