Flagging tasks would be good (though currently I just have a special tag for flagging key tasks, and that works fine).
But I think John was requesting something else -- the ability to copy commonly-used tasks from a 'palette' or a template. So it's like a repeating task except it does not repeat at regular intervals, but is instantiated when you ask. Perhaps this could be implemented by defining a new kind of repeated task, "manual", and then when adding a task, have a command to instantiate it from a list of recently completed repeating tasks whose repeat interval is "manual".
