Thanks for adding your comments to this thread. Perhaps we misunderstood the OP so your comments will be helpful. There is a movement by some customer to see iCal act as purely a back-up version of there tasks. Your suggestion of a one-way sync sort of works in this case but occasionally iCal can distort tasks. So, when you go to sync that distortion can come back in to Todo. This is one case situation where a one way sync to iCal would be useful.
