I would like to ask the question were the older strains of Red Delicious really sweeter and eat better or did we just let them hang to the proper time to be eaten? Commercially we have not been propagating the older strains and have been growing Schlect Spur and Campbell. CandyCrisp would have to be one of the sweetest apples I have ever seen. We are picking it between 17-19 Brix.
