HOLD JULY 23, 24, 25 FOR PENDING ORCHARD TOUR AND GENEVA FRUIT FIELD DAY

During our two thinning meetings here in Northeastern NY, I announced that we were going on a "Summer Road Trip" - Not!

Actually, what's contemplated is a much briefer run to western NY for an orchard tour of several fruit farms while also taking in the Fruit Field Days at the Cornell NYS Experiment Station in Geneva, NY on Wednesday, July 25.

The germ of the idea is to build several orchard visits and the Station stop around a bus trip! At our Grower Advisory Committee meeting in April, the suggestion was made to keep the autos at home and to hop on the bus - no, not to make a smaller carbon footprint (though it will - a good thing). Rather, it was windshield time that was wanted - the opportunity for growers to mix and mingle and talk shop. Someone said that this shared time was as valuable (or more?) than the actual program (who said that ...?). So I invite you to hold July 23, 24, and 25 for this purpose if you care to join us. Of course, now that this announcement is out on the table, Will Gunnison of Gunnison's Lake SHore Orchard at Crown Point, NY and I, have to buckle down and get the details worked out. We will get information out to you soon about the orchards, the itinerary, the departure point(s) and the times. We hope you will consider coming along for the program as well as for the company! Hopefully, friends from the Hudson Valley, and from Quebec, and Vermont, and elsewhere will also be able to set aside some time for a bit of a road trip (and the program). Watch for additional details to come soon.

Best Regards, Kevin Iungerman
