Verify spelling? All Word Block Dictionary Options
Now, while I was checking this out for you, and looking at "Options", my Mac OS 9 froze up, and Deja II along with it. I haven't actually used this spell checker for a very long time, but that should at least get you started. If you crash also, there may be some problem with how Deja II interacts with OS X through Classic.
Would be nice if it were possible to use the open source code to recompile this for OS X ... (beyond my knowledge, however).

I've got it set up about 95% of what I want, but for some reason, I can't
change, and have forgotten how, to change the setting for spellcheck from
single word to the menu that gives you the choice of all, word, block,
etc. I've gon thru the settings menu, and have spellcheck set for
QuickSpell+, and have tried everything I can think of, including
reinstalling a bunch of init files (tho not sure those are the problem.)
Any suggestions?
