This is a roundabout way, but it works. First, get a 3.5" drive for your apple IIe (obviously, this means a compatible controller card and drive, like the UniDisk Controller Card and UniDisk 3.5" drive; if you have a IIe, then the Platinum colored Apple 3.5" drive won't work unless you get a very specialized controller).

Next, get an older Macintosh that has a "SuperDrive." Back in the day, a SuperDrive was a 3.5" drive that could read 800k Apple II Prodos Disks, Macintosh 800k and 1.4M disks, and IBM formatted 1.44 M disks. It needs an OS less than OS X, along with the extensions for IBM and Apple II disks. (I have used a Mac IIfx, and now use a Beige G3 running OS 9 for this)(or was it 8.something? I forget. Someone here can remind me I'm sure).

Then copy files from your Apple II to a ProDOS formatted 3.5" disk. Walk it to the Mac and copy the files to the Mac hard drive. Then either stick in a PC formatted 3.5" disk and copy the files back, or use the Internet on the Mac to email or FTP or whatever the files to a Windows-based PC.

I tell you, sometimes I think the greatest peripheral in the universe for an Apple II is a Macintosh. <g>
