Have you thought about a CFFA card with a one GB CF module?  The first four 
partitions are ProDOS, then the remainder is HFS.  Solid State, last a century, 
no moving parts to crash, and you can pluck the CF module out and plug in a 
new one to expand, replace, or just provide security.
