The original Apple Logo program disk used the same method of copy protection. I was pissed off by not being able to make a backup (I hate to use originals because the can get damaged), and I didn't have enough knowledge to hack it. It hasn't been until I have got connected to the Internet that I have obtained a hacked image of the Apple Logo program disk.
