Why would that be an urban legend ? At that time a //Gs system was worth
500.00. I had just sold a //gs with the internal Vulcan hd upgrade and
ram upgrade to the University of Superior's computer department for
$1200.00. I may still have a printout of the German company wanted ad in
my papers somewhere. Apparently the 68618 processor was capable of
running their software through the Gs sound chip well enough to make
buying the //Gs logic boards viable. I remember the Southdale Mall in
Minneapolis had shopping kiosks in the mall's public areas to help their
customers look at what the Malls stores offered. These kiosks were using
the Mac //Vx to operate their software. When the kiosks were not used
enough One of my friends salvaged these kiosks and tried to resell the
Mac //Vx computers and ended up trashing them as nobody wanted them .
Apple and Macintosh computers were used in a lot of strange places where
the Ibm pee-cee couldn't do the job. My hat is off to Apple.

Sounds like an urban legend.

They wrote software using the //Gs cpu and stereo chip to operate the
stereo system. I seem to remember they were paying $400.00 just for the
//Gs cpu back then.
