There has to be a premium on rarer stuff to make it worth somebody's time to keep it and try to sell it. GS's themselves are not worth much because plenty of schools dumped them and there was a decent supply of them for the few collectors who want one. The processor upgrades and SCSI devices were a bit rarer so they command some money. Take this premium away and you will be hard pressed to get any IIgs upgrades at all.
