In a consignment of Apple II parts received yesterday, there was a pair
of paddles which I was told are originals for the ][.
Leaving alone the question who packed what or who threw the parcel
where, the knobs of both paddles were broken off in transit by a larger
part moving about in the box.
Are those paddles rare? Will they be worth going to some lengths about
at all? If they are, is it possible to get those electronic elements on
which the big round turning knobs are fastened? Forgive me for not
knowing the word in English.
Alternatively, has anybody got paddles with good interiors, but cracked
outer shells, a missing plug etc. they might be willing to sell?
The paddles are part of a project which my son Johannes, 10, and myself
have been pursuing since the summer. We are hoping to resurrect a
genuine ][, probably built in late 1978, so you can see it´s a worthy
cause. Several people on the list have already supported us with advice
and parts, for which we would like to thank them here. We have now
progressed to a stage where we have a "basic" working machine.
Hope you all had a good Christmas. Best wishes for the new year, too.
Regards, Toni Theilmeier, Germany.
