ICANN Draft Strategic Plan Priorities

ICANN has received a report today, issued by CRA International, titled

ICANN Opens Comments On gTLD Creation
ICANN, the organization that manages the technical aspect of the DNS, among 
other things, has opened up a 45-day public comment period on the process for 
requesting a new generic Top Level Domain (gTLD) such as .com, .net, and .gov.

IPv6-Stack für Sensoren
Cisco, Atmel und das schwedische Institut für Computerwissenschaften (SICS) 
haben den IPv6-Stack uIPv6 veröffentlicht. Er benötigt nur wenige Kilobyte 
Speicher und läuft auf Sensor-Hardware wie dem Atmel AVR Raven. Die Software 
steht unter einer Open-Source-Lizenz und gehört zu Contiki, einem 
Betriebssystem für "Embedded Smart Objects". Auf der Website findet sich neben 
einem Snapshot-Release von Contiki auch eine Video-Anleitung zur Installation 
der Software.

Alternative DNS-Root-Server vor der Abschaltung
Das Open Root Server Network (ORSN) stellt zum 31.12.2008 den Betrieb ein, 
gaben die Betreiber in einer Mitteilung bekannt. Das ORSN betreibt seit 2002 
ein alternatives Netzwerk für das Domain Name System (DNS), das im Unterschied 
zu den offiziellen Root-Servern der ICANN und IANA bereits früh IPv6 
unterstützte.

ICANN – hohe Hürden für neue geoTLDs
Die Internet-Verwaltung ICANN konkretisiert die Anforderungen für Bewerber um

Une enquête d'un chercheur de Harvard et de McAfee révèle l'ampleur des

Por primera vez, las ciudades demandan tener su propio dominio. Barcelona,

Bedrijven niet voorbereid op nieuwe IP-versie
De IPv6-taskforce heeft besloten de IPv6-awards af telasten vanwege te weinig 
aanmeldingen. Bedrijven die aantonen dat ze zich goed voorbereiden op de nieuwe 
versie van het IP-nummer konden in de prijzen vallen. ,,Het aantal inzendingen 
was helaas minimaal. Van competitie was daardoor geen sprake’’, schrijft Erik 
Huizer, voorzitter van de IPv6-taskforce op de website.
