Social Media and Young Adults
Overview: Two Pew Internet Project surveys of teens and adults reveal a decline
in blogging among teens and young adults and a modest rise among adults 30 and
older. Even as blogging declines among those under 30, wireless connectivity
continues to rise in this age group, as does social network use. Teens ages
12-17 do not use Twitter in large numbers, though high school-aged girls show
the greatest enthusiasm for the application.

Depression: The darker side of your Internet habit
Feeling a bit blue? Maybe you've spent too much time surfing the Web. In a
report released today, a team of psychologists at the University of Leeds in
the U.K. said they have found that people who spend significant time online are
far more likely to suffer symptoms of depression. When people begin to
substitute real-life, face-to-face interaction with online conversations in
chat rooms and on social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, there's
often "a serious impact on [their] mental health," the study found.
