Yes, it will be interesting. Personally, there are a couple of things that do not work as I would like on my snv_87 so I would like to see if I can get them working and 2008.05 won't give me that for at least another 6 months, without paying $324 -- if these things are bugs or incomplete drivers.
Here are the things that I've noticed so far which aren't as they should be: 1. File system lockup: As you have the the same motherboard (M2N-SLI Deluxe), I think, I would be very interested if you get the same file system lockup doing a 'cp -r' of a load of big files, reading and writing the files completely within the same pool and file system. See: http://www.opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?threadID=59201&tstart=0 This issue appears to be a bug in the nv_sata driver which talks to the NVidia MCP 55 chipset, but I need to get time to get DTrace on the case so I can see where it's hanging. 2. I never got the power management to work correctly, and didn't get the time to find out why yet. This machine seemed to suspend, but not resume correctly. This will require me spending time to investigate how to debug this... see: http://opensolaris.org/jive/thread.jspa?messageID=223084 3. When I did a large backup using rsync, I got some message about message which I've now forgotten, but it had some problem reading some file within my photo library -- something about some value being too large ??? This is on my list to investigate sometime too :) When I find the issue I will report my findings. So for me, I would like to have these things fixed before 6-12 months from now, assuming some of them are bugs. I have noted down all my config changes in a file in order to bring my system to the same config state from a fresh install, so it's not too onerous to apply the config changes.
