Can anyone explain the difference between:
AMD Athlon X2 Dual-Core
and AMD Athlon64 X2 Dual-Core
...please?
I will be building my home NAS box (RAIDZ/NFS) in the next couple of
weeks, and have been thinking that rather than wait for power
management in AMD-Dual-core in Solaris, and rather than pay a premium
for a really fast single core and then power-manage *that*, I would
instead get a natively low-power dual-core CPU and try to passively
cool it.
So I am looking at the new 45W chips, and this one appeals:
http://www.amdcompare.com/us-en/desktop/details.aspx?opn=ADH2350IAA5DD
...but it says that its operating mode is "32/64", yet it is not
listed as Athlon64.
If I am doing ZFS I need lots of RAM and address space, yadda yadda,
so this is making me wonder: Can anyone explain what gives, please?
Thanks!
