Hello, Aptitude is a marvel. I love it.
I am working with Vinux - Linux for Visually Impaired. We have both an X Windows version and a Console version the X Windows is equipped with magnifier and screen reader and the console version is equipped with screen reader. If Aptitude was to be changed so that when Control-t was pressed to access the menus, the screen were to blank except for those menus, a screen reader could read the menus. Right now the screen reader reads both the pull down menu and whatever text happens to be on the screen. All that has to happen is when Control-t is pressed the terminal is cleared and just the menu appears and when the menu selection is executed that the screen is redrawn with the needed text. I understand that the Visually Impaired community is but a small one, but the features of aptitude are simply amazing and if this could be done, it would open to console users who are blind the abilities of this very fine program. Wishing you well, David Ring Green Harbor, MA USA -30-
