I started aptitude-gtk, set again to automatically some manually upgraded
packages (java related) the aptitude-gtk downloaded and installed packages
after that it crashes with a Segmentation fault. All packages were installed
correctly

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in improving Debian, and sorry to keep the
bug unattended for so long. There's now an effort to review the open
bugs related with aptitude and resume development.
The bug report as it is provides very little information that would
help to identify the problem, especially since it lacks backtraces.
Either that, or a message with a concrete error, or clear instructions
in steps to reproduce the bug report are pretty much required before
being able to start the debugging process at all (except for very
specific cases where the problem can be pin-pointed in other ways).
Also, the version against which this bug was originally reported (not
the subsequent email with 0.6.3) still used log4cxx, which was
replaced since then (0.6.3-1) precisely because it was causing many
random crashes.
So I'm closing it now. Please submit a new bug with current
information (and a backtrace if possible) if you still experience
random crashes with aptitude-gtk.
(Also, untagging "l10n", since it doesn't seem related with that at all).
Regards.
