Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.3-3.1
Severity: normal

Hi,

I have switched my system to a multiarch setup, and aptitude seems to
have severe problems with packages that are no longer available from any
source, have been deinstalled but have configuration files left.

Any command, including "update" ponders for several minutes, then aborts
with

.../../src/generic/apt/aptitude_resolver_universe.h:196: static
aptitude_resolver_version aptitude_resolver_version::make_install(const
pkgCache::Version*, pkgDepCache*): Assertion "ver != __null" failed.

Purging all obsolete packages rectifies the situation.

Hi,

Cannot reproduce it with 0.6.8.3-1, I guess that it was silently fixed
between these versions.

Cheers.
