Package: aptitude
Version: 0.2.14.1-2
Severity: normal

Small disk failure destroyed almost all files from /usr/bin so I decided to
reinstall most of installed packages. I asked aptitude to update all packages
with new version and reinstall the rest.

I thought it would be as simple as pressing 'L' and 'U'. Unfortunately, aptitude
(or is it apt-get problem?) detected circular dependencies (because of
predepends) and refused to reinstall or upgrade anything.

Of course one can avoid this problem by holding problematic packages manualy
(this was my solution, until I was stopped by another aptitude problems), but
(IMHO) this makes aptitude for such tasks quite uncomfortable and awkward.

Hello,

This bug report is not very actionable in the first place, and no more
information was provided even if the maintainer reacted the same day
within hours... so after 11+ years I think that it is safe to close
this bug report.

Cheers.
