Package: aptitude
Version: 0.6.1.3-3
Severity: normal

For some reasons, I often hold some packages before upgrades. Then
aptitude detects dependencies and suggests to hold them as well but
finally wants to remove recommended packages, which I don't want to !

This happens for example with grub-pc:
 - I hold grub-pc
 - aptitude warns me about grub-common and suggests to hold it as well
   (I accept)
 - then, proceeding ('g'), aptitude wants to remove os-prober which is
recommended by grub-common and marked as automatically installed

Note that os-prober is not upgradable in this case.

Cheers,

Denis

Have you seen this in recent times?

No.

I cannot reproduce it with your bundle or with the current versions in
unstable, and in general I haven't observed this behaviour about wanting
to remove recommended packages of packages on hold in the last few
years.

Me neither, closing the bug accordingly.

Regards,
Denis.
