Package: aptitude
Version: 0.4.11.11-1~lenny1
Severity: normal
This is easily reproduced by installing the unstable X server core
package and then marking a video driver for install.
Aptitude marks the stable version of the driver for installation but
that breaks the X server because it conflicts with all old drivers.
Aptitude then goes ahead and fixes the situation by marking the unstable
version for installation instead. However the X server is still marked
as broken.
Quitting aptitude and starting it again allows instaling the driver.

Hi Michal,
2009-07-14 11:21 Michal Suchanek:
Package: aptitude

Quitting aptitude and starting it again allows instaling the driver.
This you observe these problems after the version that you mention?
The resolver was heavily changed in the versions after the one that you
are using, or maybe it was a bug that was fixed while the associated
reports remained open.
I am not sure if we can do much to investigate this bug report by now.
Closing bug report now.
