Well, we certainly have been treated to quite a few versions of Arachne
recently ... perhaps you have "taken a leaf out of Linus' book"? ;-)
Well done Michael!
Anyway, I finally managed to actually try 1.65 (for DOS) over the
weekend, to check out some bugs/fixes. Results as follows :
1. Virtual screen lock-up after login to "www.start.com.au" :
One of the problems with testing web stuff is that web pages are
always changing ... I had no trouble with 1.65, however, when I
double-checked with 1.64, this no longer crashed either! Can you
or someone else confirm if this problem was addressed in 1.65
(or has the problem HTML been changed at www.start.com.au)?
2. xSwap crash at "www.freeonline.com.au/corporate/connect.html" :
This problem has *not* been fixed. :-(
3. New problem (still under investigation) :
I haven't worked out yet what I did, but the dialer broke! After
some investigation, I found line 10 of "arachne.cfg" had
"Hangup @termin.com 0x60>NUL" and the last line was
missing "Connection @epppd.exe>>PPP.LOG". After changing
these two lines, the dialer was working again.
Also, I noticed that at the end of "arachne.cfg" there was a line
"AlltNameServer ..." - why does the secondary name server appear
*twice* in "arachne.cfg", with the second appearance mis-spelt?
As for lost clusters, I don't get these unless Arachne crashes (I use
the "Clear cache" button via Arachne Desktop, etc.); WRT virus
checking, 1.65 was OK with Norton Antivirus ...
Best regards,
Joe.

At http://www.start.com.au/
The second frame (which is set to a size of zero [0]),
has a "refresh" tag in it.
This causes it to automatically load a Microsoft VBScript page after 31 sec.
That VBScript has an error in it.

So, we actually have 2 problems.
1) http://www.start.com.au/ has some "bad code".
2) Arachne should not crash when it gets this code within a frame set.
I was able to see what was happening by turning frames "off".
With frames "on"..... the first try it simply froze-up-tight.
Complete lock-up including keyboard not functional.
(even the CapsLock, ScrollLock and NumLock keys were "locked")
The second try.....
I was kicked out of Arachne to the infamous "Error loading font file"
message. CapsLock, ScrollLock and NumLock keys worked OK.. but nothing
else worked. (had to press the reset button)
