Joe and Michael,
I decided this needed methodical investigation, so I did it...<g>
HARDWARE - Cyrix 486dlc 40Mhz, 32Mbytes, 6120Kbytes XMS, 10Mbytes
RAMDisk (where I run all my Arachne installs from).
OS == DRDOS6.0
ARACHNE Versions == 1.66, 1.69, 1.70
PROCEDURE ==
1. CTRL+ALT+DEL reboot
2. Launch version of Arachne to be tested.
3. ALT-E, then delete COOKIES.LST
4. With Images toggled OFF, launch URL //my.yahoo.com/
5. Without selecting "Remember my ID & Password", login
6. Select "Check Mail" link, this brings me to MyYahooMail page for
"(my username)"
7. Select either "Check Mail" or "Go to Inbox"
8. That delivers me to the "Your session has expired, RE-LOGIN. . ."
page.
9. Relogin, and get returned to MyYahooMail page...
10. Select either "Check Mail" or "Go to Inbox" and arrive at my
Inbox.
This worked the same whether or not I selected "Remember my ID &
Password". It makes no difference. I ALWAYS get directed to the
". . .RE-LOGIN. . ." screen when I try to go to my Inbox.
So...it is NOT a problem with 1.66 as opposed to 1.69 as opposed to
1.70. They all work the same. I am not testing 1.67 and 1.68 since
these have major bugs, and are not being used on my boxes.
Keep in mind that this test was done on the US servers (AFAIK) of
Yahoo...I have not had time to go check our Joe's AU server account
he reported setting up...I will try to do so tonight..
NOTE - Using the same hardware, but booting to MSDOS6.22/Win3.1 and
using NetscapeCommunicator 4.08b (the heaviest, secure, browser for
Win3.1) I did the same test, and found that Yahoo does NOT require
". . .RE-LOGIN. . ." when I try to go to my Inbox.
Thinking it might be some kind of javascript making the difference,
I hit F4 on the MyYahooMail page, and inspected the HTML text. I
could find no indication of javascript in those two inbox links (but
remember that I am a dummy who REALLY doesn't know HTML all that
much). Maybe it's there, but I couldn't see it. You guys all have
the same browser I have, and can F4 that page and look for yourselves.
.......gregy
BTW....1.70 is so much improved, and now seems to access all the
pages I need it to, that I have put my test installs into "permanent"
status....<g g g>. I could only get 1.70 to follow one level of
CSS on the Toshiba Tech Support page, but, at least, it DID show that
one level...<g g g>
Nice work Michael.....bug reports (and Minor Irritation Reports will
follow in a few days..<g>)
