Reference my report of investigating YahooMail Cookies and Mail Login.. I have just discovered something, else. Unless I am conducting "Official Arachne Testing" for record, I never delete my cookies, and I NEVER Signout from MyYahoo. Therefore, I just click the http://my.yahoo.com/ link in my HOTLIST and I am taken directly to "MyYahoo for (my username)"....I never need to Signin. Tonight, I visited my MyYahoo by my usual method, not having to SignIn, and clicked my "Check Mail" link. Yahoo took me to the usual "Verify Password" page, where I entered my passowrd (only the password) and then took me straight to MyYahooMail page. I clicked on "Go to Inbox" link, expecting to be taken back to the "Your session has expired, RE-LOGIN. . ." page (I'd gotten so used to this yesterday when I was doing "Official Tests"). However, it took me directly to my Inbox. I tried this several more times. After the initial "Verify Password" it never made me do this, but took me straight to my MyYahooMail page, and ALWAYS took me straight to my Inbox after I clicked on that link. -------------20 minutes later----------------- I have just deleted my COOKIES.LST and launched the my.yahoo.com link from my Hotlist. I had to signin to my MyYahoo page, I clicked on the Check Mail link and was taken to my MyYahooMail page, I clicked on the "Go to Inbox" link and was taken back to the ". . .RE-LOGIN. . ." page, then back to re-signin, then taken back to my MyYahooMail page, and finally after clicking the "Go to Inbox" link again, I was taken to my Inbox. It is now, 24 Jan 01, 0745 MST, and I am going to delete cookies and go back and signin to my MyYahoo page, but will NOT try to Check Mail. I will leave the new cookie sit and age in my Cookies.lst until tonight at least until 8:00 pm. Then I will see what happens when I try to Check Mail. It occurs to me that maybe the problem isn't with "Too Old a cookie" but may be because the cookie is "Too New" and hasn't aged....<g> ...'til later....<g g g> -------whooo...much later..<g>...0500, 26 JAN 01............ I forgot about this until just now....went back to MyYahoo, then to my MyYahooMail (had to "Verify your Password"....then click "Go to Inbox" and got sent to the "...RE-LOGIN..." page, then thru the Signin page again, then could click on "Go to Inbox" again and arrive at my Inbox. ..Now I will wait until tonight and do this again, and see if I have to "...RE-LOGIN..." again, or only have to do the normal "Verify Your Password" thing... ...until later.... ---------------0205, 27 Jan 01 ---------------- ..clicked MyYahoo in my hotlist, went there without signing in...clicked "Check Mail" went to "Verify Password" did that and was taken to my MyYahooMail page...clicked on "Go to Inbox"...went right there without having to do the "...RE-LOGIN..." thing... ...until later... ---------------2300, 28 Jan 01--------------- Same as 0205, 27 Jan 01 entry.... SUMMARY: -------- Never delete cookies - never SignOut - ALWAYS go right to Inbox, without having to "...RE-LOGIN..."....have done this numerous times the past few days.....always works for me.... I have done this investigation so that Michael gets some idea of what happens for me, and maybe doesn't waste time chasing ghosts that don't exist in Arachne... .....gregy
