Hi List!
Well, by golly, I've got quite a fuss going, hehe!
Look, I was testing a web interface with Lynx 386
for DOS, using my SoftHome account. I sent a message
to the list, while it does work, it inserts extra
letters. Don't know why...I also sent a follow-up
message that night when I saw what SoftHome did.
As best I can tell, it is something with the SoftHome
server/operating system. Possibly it is running on
Linux or other UNIX, and it did not correctly identify
my system as DOS based.
No espionage, no secret decoder ring needed...
Have a good one!

Step 1) stop doing that.<g>
Step 2) Edit msdos.sys and change 'bootgui=1' to 'bootgui=0'
Step 3) Reboot the machine so that you won't go into windows.

That setting is only 'usual' for windows. <g>

Edit your .ASF file and change
'reload:file:inbox.dgi' to simply 'file:inbox.dgi'

Are you sure that isn't 'resend.dgi' ?
This error is most likely a result of running in the windows 'dos-box'.

I remember that cable TV descrambler spam from newsgroups some time ago, message
said it was legal, but I haven't seen any spams recently on that subject.
I used to get a lot of spams promoting a chain-letter pyramid scheme, where the
recipient is supposed to send $5 to each of 5 snail-mail addresses to order 5
reports on how to send bulk email legally and how to make big money on the
Internet. Now that type of spam is infrequent. Maybe they ran out of suckers?
I get a lot of Korean spams, where in most cases, I don't know what they're
selling, but some of those appear to be sexy. I get some Chinese spams that I
can't read, and some of those come through [EMAIL PROTECTED] Nigeria
spam has been increasing in frequency, and some of those also come through
[EMAIL PROTECTED]: not only generals, but oil businessmen too. I get a
fair amount of porno spams, even some supposedly involving mothers and sons,
fathers and daughters, brothers and sisters, etc.
What's really annoying is getting the same spam multiple times, especially when
it's a big spam, like that 148 KB get-rich-quick spam with a .doc attachment,
presumably MS-Word. I didn't even bother to decode the base64.
Steve Ackman, you mentioned interbusiness.it as a source of spam. From the spam
I get, I don't remember that domain. Not to say I never received anything from
that domain, but it is certainly not a substantial source of the spam that comes
my way.

Subject: The Mouse...
The Mouse...
A mouse looked through a crack in the wall to see the
farmer and his wife opening a package; what food might
it contain? He was aghast to discover that it was a
mousetrap! Retreating to the farmyard, the mouse
proclaimed the warning, "There is a mouse trap in the
house, there is a mousetrap in the house."
The chicken clucked and scratched, raised her head and
said, "Mr. Mouse, I can tell you this is a grave
concern to you, but it is of no consequence to
me; I cannot be bothered by it."
The mouse turned to the pig and told him, "There is a
mousetrap in the house."
"I am so very sorry Mr. Mouse," sympathized the pig,
"but there is nothing I can do about it but pray; be
assured that you are in my prayers."
The mouse turned to the cow, who replied, "Like wow,
Mr. Mouse, a mousetrap; am I in grave danger, Duh?"
So the mouse returned to the house, head down and
dejected to face the farmer's mousetrap alone.
That very night a sound was heard throughout the
house, like the sound of a mousetrap catching its
prey. The farmer's wife rushed to see what was caught.
In the darkness, she did not see that it was a
venomous snake whose tail the trap had caught.
The snake bit the farmer's wife. The farmer rushed her
to the hospital. She returned home with a fever. Now
everyone knows you treat a fever with fresh chicken
soup, so the farmer took his hatchet to the farmyard
for the soup's main ingredient.
His wife's sickness continued so that friends and
neighbors came to sit with her around the clock. To
feed them, the farmer butchered the pig.
The farmer's wife did not get well, in fact, she died,
and so many people came for her funeral the farmer had
the cow slaughtered to provide meat for all of them to
eat.
So the next time you hear that someone is facing a
problem and think that it does not concern you,
remember that when the least of us is threatened,
we are all at risk. And so it may be with Germany,
France and Belgium one day...
