I don't think that I'd bother any more at all with trying to
use Acrodos. I went through all of this months ago and I found
that most 'modern' .PDF chip data sheets, etc., simply wouldn't
work with it.

I ended up getting a version of Ghostscript. Now - its
documentation is about as clear as mud, but after hours of
fiddling, I can report that it will print out many more .PDF
sheets than would Acrodos.

A very handy by-product is that it will also print out
postscript format to an ordinary laserjet, so we can AT LAST get
decent print-outs from Arachne mail messages, web pages and so
on. I use it by EXPORTING a .PS file using Alt-P in Arachne.
Outside Arachne, I then call up Ghostscript to print the .PS
file generated by Arachne. There is a suggestion that Arachne
can invoke Ghostscript directly but this uses some sort of .DGI
file, about which I know nothing - anyone else??

   Ron.
