I have recently experimented a bit with this using NCSA Telnet
(ftp server mode) and KA9Q (Demon or UKA_PPP) both running on
top of epppd packet driver. I first tested it over PPP (null
modem cable) from Linux, then online. It seems to work, but
without a dedicated connection or domain, I don't really have
a practical use for it.
