Those on the FreeDOS & RxDOS lists know this (hey Ken :) but I have a
small but usable library for entering Flat Real Mode at
<http://frm.n3.net/>. Ken has done great work on a "C" type compiler (old
version at simtel under the name BFlat) and I have done some work to get
x86 GCC (and DJGPP) to produce 64K COMs. All that is needed to complete
my work is to write a custom malloc (needs to cooperate with
Himem.sys or be used standalone and make use of the FRM
environment). I have other suggestions & ideas but they are all quite a
bit of work.
