About eight years ago, I (as an engineer) wanted a lithium
battery for an embedded CPU board I was designing.  Not knowing
much about them, I did a fair bit of research.  At that time, it
turned out that there were about six different varieties of "lith-
ium batteries" being produced.  All contained highly-toxic organic
lithium compounds, and the voltages varied wildly.  It is likely
that some of these varieties no longer exist, but it is quite pos-
sible that there is still more than one. As usual, caveat emptor!
