(I personally use Arachne in combination with GMX since months and it works quite
good.)
If you can't connect to the SMTP-server mail.gmx.net, you should try it on the
webbased-userinterface. If it doesn't work there, the database is not available
at the moment. Just try it some minutes later!
[ GMX is a fast growing service, so it's difficult for them to provide 100%
availabilty.. And it's also possible that one mail-account can be accessed, while
another one is unreachable. GMX is using a cluster, so if they have to - for example -
reboot a server, it's possible that YOUR mailbox is hosted on this server... ]
