Greetings fellow listers!!
Can someone please point me towards suggested settings for running
Arachne on a machine which has Win95 on it. I have read about the
multiple boot ... and have that set up okay. I am still troubled by low
memory resources ... while I run Arachne. It is much better now ...
because I run Arachne from a dos prompt ... sidestepping the loading of
Win95.
However the dos memory still shows only 68 k as I write this ... and a
question mark is beside the number.
For comparison, running Arachne from a dos box within win95 results in a
dos memory value of below 50 k sometimes ... with red numbers and three
exclamation marks!! Although the mail program seems to run smoothly ...
due to memory management ... all other processes slow to a crawl.
What settings of autoexec.bat and config.sys will improve the
performance of arachne??
By the way the machine is a 32 meg Pentium (133 MHz).
