I'm sure MS-Word can save files as ASCI text. One of my correspondents
managed after several tries and much coaching to send me something
I could read. Others have said they just couldn't manage the conversion
or didn't want to be bothered to learn anything new. It was just
"too confusing" to think about.
Mike Millen and Bernie have both suggested "View" as a DOS attachment
viewer.
I've checked it out and it's just the ticket. It can read MS-Word
files up to the latest Word 2000, along with Word Perfect, Word Star,
Ami Pro, XYWrite, Rich Text Format (RTF), ASCI, ANSI, Unix, and so
on, including HTML files and convert them to ASCI text.
You can search for text, select text, copy to a new file, and print.
Great program. Thanks guys. Now I can just read the attachments
people send me without getting cranky.
Anyone who uses a DOS email program should have this program. It's
shareware.
