Last night I was having _major_ problems getting anything from the net. Others here might find this message from the owner of Cisnet.com to be quite informative....... ----- Forwarded message begin ----- From: Todd Knaus <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Dear CISNet Customers, Those of you that logged on last night or early this morning may have experienced some extreme slowness or inability to access sites on the Internet. At this point in time I am not exactly sure what the cause was. I can tell you it had nothing todo with our local system. The problem was out on the Internet. It seems as though several facilities on the internet were causing routes to get stuck in a loop. For example, when you goto www.yahoo.com you get sent through several hops or hubs; From CISNet you go out to Cleveland, then to Chicago, then to California. There are a few other stops in between, but you get the picture. What was happening last night is that you would get maybe as far as Chicago then you would be sent back to Cleveland instead of moving forward to Cailfornia. Cleveland would sent you back to Chicago and and so on thus you were stuck in a big loop. Again, I am not sure how or why this problem was occuring. I will email everyone when I know more.
