Using "stable release" I went to browserwatch's stat list for letters A to M to see how many people are reporting use of our favorite browser. After about 14000 bytes of the page came in, my disk drive suddenly started making lots of noise as though there were no disk cache. In fact I do use NWCACHE with write-delay turned on, and this has not happened before. I flushed the Arachne cache (F8) and tried again, with the same result.
