Hmmm. That's not what I get.
I tried it first with Netscape.
Amazing. A perfect cow. No defects whatsoever.
Second image, a room with two people in it on the left.
BUT, if I viewed the images themselves (without the page) I could see that
there were two interlaced images.
So I saved the gifs and viewed them with Arachne.
When viewed alone with Arachne, they appeared the same as with Netscape
when viewed alone. (mixed)
Then I went online with Arachne and here was where it got different.
The cowlephant appeared not as a cow I admit, but CERTAINLY not as
a dead elephant. More like a horizontally compressed version of the
complete interlaced image. A real mess. This was in 640x480x16.
I then decided to try a different video mode to see if that would affect
it and I decided to try it online.
I tried to get online with Arachne 1.60 on my P90 and couldn't.
This hardware had worked fine online (more or less) before with 1.6b1.
The surprise(s): (Sorry to take so long to get to the point)
When checking to find what I could have screwed up when changing to 1.60,
I found that EPPPD.exe had a date of 97/09/19. (49258 bytes).
I thought there was a new version of EPPPD ?? I checked all versions of
1.6 (b1,b2,stable) and they all had the same EPPPD as version 1.48.
I know the getting online problem is unrelated to this, but did ANYONE
get a new version of EPPPD ? I took the .zip download.
The other surprise is that SOMETHING had overwritten part of my Arachne.cfg
with a piece of Arachne mail !! I can't blame it 100% on Arachne because
this setup uses Smartdrv and I already know THAT's a piece of crap.
I just wanted to have one system loaded with very different software from
my regular stuff. :(
BTW, after getting Arachne.cfg fixed and online, I found that the cowlefant
looks very different in 640x480x256.
A perfectly dead elephant !
