L.D.,
I get 614K with DOS 6.22. Where do you load epppd.exe?
Do you have enough room to load it high (upper memory)?
------------
Here's a question I have: I have 6.22 on all computers, but
this one does not have as much available upper memory as the
others, so it's a tight squeeze to put epppd.exe there. On
Bobcat, and others I use Netdial with, I can use epppdd.exe,
which is about 74K, and load it high. I can get it loaded
high on this computer, but only have about 4K left over, but
all of my conventional 614K is there for Bobcat or
Lynx, etc.(Arachne uses epppd only)
Anyway, I'm thinking that when I installed 6.22, I made
the wrong choice somewhere in the setup, perhaps in the
area of the backup and undelete programs, both WIN and DOS
versions. I said yes to it all, and may have wound up with
less high memory to stick stuff in<g>. All my other computers,
set up much like this one, have about 36K left over in the
high area after setver, dmouse, smartdrv and epppdd are
placed there. For example, on my Compaq computer,
the Total Upper memory is 158,576, but
on this IBM PS/1, it's 125,808. Everything else is the same,
except for Extended (XMS) which reflects the installed RAM
on each machine. Actually, this IBM PS/1 has 32 MB, and the
Compaq only 24 MB, so that doesn't affect the conventional,
Upper area we are concerned with.
Anyone have any ideas on this?
