Have you noticed new APM by Vitex ? It is offline .shtml parser (in DOS .sht) parser. It allows you to build and debug web sites using .shtml server side includes on your DOS workstation. (Of course, you don't need .shtml parser for viewing online .shtml files, because they are already parsed by server, and sent to your browser as any other normal HTML file...) .shtml based design of website is very interesting alternative to frames based design: it saves you lot of time while keeping all pages single frame and easy to scroll... which of course helps Arachne to be compatible with such website, and also more stable. And all Apache based web servers can be easily configured to parse .shtml files, in fact, I believe that defaul Apache config allows .shtml parsing, at least config shipped with RedHat Linux... All pages on new Arachne website are .shtml files, btw. They share same template files, because template directories are just symlinks to single template directory, and so it was also very easy to do the 2nd set of templates for text only version .... -- http://arachne.cz/ (Arachne Labs: internet - software - linux - mp3)
