I inadvertently shelled out to DOS (F5) from within the Tiny (text) Editor with one small file remaining there, was able to access the Internet and run DOS Lynx386 and UKA_PPP (mail & news), but Arachne came up short of low memory by 7680 (?) bytes. I ran mem /c | more and found T still there, typed exit to get back in, typed F3 to quit the file and quit the Tiny Editor, but with T no longer showing when I ran mem /c | more, Arachne still came up 7168 (?) bytes short of low memory. Tiny Editor with the small file took about 20 KB memory. But after hanging up and unloading EPPPD, then dialing again and reloading, Arachne ran OK with remaining low memory in KB showing as 49 (!!!) in red, which is normal. Now why did Arachne come up short before disconnecting the first time, with the same amount of memory showing in response to mem /c | more? Was it an issue of contiguous low memory? As for inadvertently shelling out to DOS from within the Tiny Editor, I can only guess that my finger hit F5 instead of F3.
