 No problem...
Start the player like this:

mpxplay -m filename.mp3

(-m tells it to use midas sound system)

 Once you've got it working, place these 2 lines into mime.cfg
Then you can play MP3s from within Arachne.

audio/mpeg3                 MP3|@d:\\audio\\mpxplay\\mpxplay.exe -m $1
audio/x-mpeg3               MP3|@d:\\audio\\mpxplay\\mpxplay.exe -m $1
;[_specify *your* drv and dir____^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^__]<g>
