When you get this Win9x install working "real well", you might post
you method/steps, because this is a reocurring problem....I am not
a "purist" who thinks it is blasphemy to run Arachne in a Win DOS
box, or under DOSWin...<g>

Most of the other guys will have lots of suggestions, but the one
that threw me, when I was a newbie, was the "cacheing" problem, so
maybe, at least, the error pages should not be cached. It still makes
me stop and think, when it happens.
Perhaps a big "CAUTION" or "NOTICE" should be added to the docs
to tell newbies that their Arachne is working just fine when the
cacheing things shows up.

Please Do NOT disable this "show me terminal" window when dialing....we
are constantly having problems with Arachne initial dialup....this is
an extremetly useful troubleshooting tool - just witness how many times
on the List it has been used to help someone get their install correct
 - and it should be the "default". People can change it after they
become comfortable with their installation....I STILL use it, especially
when upgrading, or doing a new Arachne Install.

Most of the problems I have are with the Video Card selection/config,
and this is probably mostly with the graphics library. Maybe we
should be looking at that library Dev mentioned in today's post.
I do not have clients/customers in this area who are trying to
connect to any lan/wan or cable modem, so my problems are ALL with
standard ISP dialups over dirty lines (sometimes these are miles of
rural phone lines). However, I have never experienced the 60 sec.
timeout you mentioned, because NONE of my installs use 56K, except
my own, because MY own ISP is only 3 miles away. The rest of them
are doing 33K over miles of rural lines...<g>

yes...I agree....messages composed with external editor can be easily
imported to the MailComposer page. It works fine now, as is..

............gregy

PS...I don't suppose it is yet possible to have the "continue" function
added to Arachne...?? This would really make Arachne a top performer..
...not having to download the whole page everytime the server you're
trying to access gets stuck and you have to hit "R", then try to reload
the whole page. If Arachne could just pick up where it left off, it
would be a whole ...NEW...<g>...picture.
