it does not freeze ...
the password is just not echoed back, so if somebody stands behind you, he
can't read it on the screen

the garbage _IS_ PPP ;)
You than have to hit F7 (?? I'm sure that I will be corrected if it's not
true ... I haven't used PPP for a long time)
And than Arachne should work properly.
