Hello Phil:
Your new version of Arachne will not require any files from your old
version, although you may find that some of your old files might be
quite useful for reference purposes.
If you have set up your new version of Arachne in the standard and
conventional way, the way most people do, (although this is not "required")
you will place your new version in C:\ARACHNE, and you will create
subdirectories as needed, and as specified in your setup. You might find
that you will want to archive somewhere some of the mail messages from your
old version. Also you might want to save some of the files from your old
version for future reference (HOTLIST.HTM, for example). Also I would
suggest saving your old ARACHNE.CFG for future reference and for purposes
of troubleshooting. (In the case of most solutions that worked in the
past, the same solutions will work today, unless other factors have forced
us to adopt changes.) You might even want to copy HOTLIST.HTM from your
old version to your new version.
Since you are using Window$ it will be best to send the no longer needed
Arachne files to your recycle or trash bin. In case you should ever need
to recover these files you will more likely to be able to get them back.
Usually it is much easier to recover files from the recycle or trash bin
than it is to recover them by using the DOS "undelete" command, used for
recovering files deleted with the DOS "delete" command.
All the best,
Sam Heywood
