Hello:

My son, who is located in California, has reported a similar
problem to me. He says that after attempting a login he
receives an error message saying "error sending password".
He is certain that there is nothing wrong with his setup
nor is there anything wrong with his password entry. His
OS is Window$ CE version 3.00. Up until just recently
freewwweb used to work just fine for him. If anyone knows
what's wrong now, please let us know. Could it be a problem
related to a system "upgrade" at some of the freewwweb servers
so as to lock out all operating systems that they no longer want
to be compatible with? I think this might be just a local
problem in some cases.

After reading this message I tried accessing my own freewwweb
account by dialing up their number in Charlottesville, VA
(1-804-297-0357). I used NetTamer (a DOS program). I
successfully connected and sent a test message to myself and
downloaded a message sent to me by freewwweb dated today. (It
was about some business opportunity being offered by freewwweb,
but it wasn't spam)

In accessing my freewwweb account from their server in
Charlottesville I have never experienced the kind of problems
being reported on this list and the SurvPC list. My good luck
in using the Charlottesville number might be attributable to
their having better technicians. Any ISP located in
Charlottesville can be highly selective in whom they choose to
employ, because there are lots of very smart students at the
University of Virginia applying for jobs, and UVA is known to
be among the very best universities in the country.

BTW, I have taken the liberty of forwarding this message and my
reply to my son, but in my forwarded message I have intentionally
omitted the name and email address of the list member who made
the original post.

All the best,

Sam Heywood
