"stash: tr. v. stashed, stashing, stashes. To hide or store away in a
secret place. --n. A store or cache of money or valuables. [Origin
unknown]"

Definition quoted verbatim from "The American Heritage Dictionary of the
English Language", 1973 edition. This is a very common everyday word in
the USA. I would suppose that the British folks use the word frequently
too, but I am not certain of this. I believe I can recall having heard
some British actors use the term in some movies.

In the underground drug culture the term "stash" is often used to refer
to the hiding place where the druggie stores his stuff.
