hda2 is the extended dos partition which then contains the
logical drives beginning with 5.
3 and 4 could be additional primary partitions.(if you want them)
(or you can have 4 primary partitions if you so choose)<g>
Here's my "old" partition table for the first physical drive (5.7gb)
hda1 ---- c:
hda2 ---- extended dos
hda3 ---- W95 FAT32
hda4 ---- W98 FAT32
hda5 ---- d:
hda6 ---- e:
hda7 ---- f:
hda8 ---- g:
hda9 ---- h:
hda10 ---- i:
hda11 ---- j:
Several months ago, I finished testing W98 for a friend.
So, it's now back to the way it was before.
(hda4 is gone and has been replaced with the 8th logical drive hda12)
hda1 ---- c:
hda2 ---- extended dos
hda3 ---- W95 FAT32
hda5 ---- d:
hda6 ---- e:
hda7 ---- f:
hda8 ---- g:
hda9 ---- h:
hda10 ---- i:
hda11 ---- j:
hda12 ---- k:
The second physical drive is for Linux. (1.2gb)
hdb1 ---- Linux native
hdb2 ---- Linux swap
The CDs are...
hdc ---- CDROM (read only in all OSs)
hdd ---- CDRW (read only in DOS and Linux, RW in W95/98)
And so ends our lesson for today in "Linux drive specifications".<vbg>
BTW, Only Linux FDISK can do this so easily.
(others *can* do it.... but not as easy as Linux)
