**Bas: After I got Ar 1.61 working fine I deleted all the old stuff.
I found mime.cfg 10792 25-05-00 and
mime.{cf 10791 26-03-00
The .{ suggests that one bit has been added by Norton Edit and I
renamed the file so the old mime.cfg (26-03-00) is the default again.
Result: viewing GIF, BMP and HTM still OK.
Arachne not collapsing any more but still a red box and no
JPG viewing.
Any other 'illegal' format, e.g. TIF, gives the
"Copy or send unviewable file type" screen... looks OK
Viewing web pages online still gives red boxes on images but the
collapse of Arachne did stop now.
I will study the mime.cfg file -now I don't quite understand it-
but practise makes perfect, they say {;->
