I downloaded Arachne 1.62 (ARCHN162.EXE), wished it could have been a .ZIP,
since then I could run UNZIP -l (zip-file) | more and see what's in it, see if
there is a directory structure before deciding what directory to unzip to. It
wanted to install to C:\ARACHNE, but since I am too strapped for space there, I
installed to G:\ARACH162. Then, after extracting, it apparently couldn't write
a file to hard drive, and I was left with a blank screen with file:setup_os.dgi.
DOS memory (KB) showed as 56(!!!) in red. I was in OS/2 Warp 4 VDM as opposed
to straight DR-DOS 7.03 or MS-DOS 6.22.
I can still copy ARACHNE.CFG from Arachne 1.61 and see if it runs, how it
compares for speed (1.61 vs. 1.62) on http://ens.lycos.com. I would like
Arachne to get information from WATTCP.CFG as determined by WATTCP.CFG
environment variable if possible; having both Bluegrass Net and Freewwweb would
prefer not to use the DNS address from the wrong ISP.
There ought to be an option to run ARACHNE -c OTHERCF.CFG, to enable use of an
alternate .CFG with Arachne, or to have an include line in ARACHNE.CFG to
include variable information from another file. Newer versions of Lynx have
this facility regarding LYNX.CFG.
