Hello List,
Joerg and me quitted the list on the subject 'Norton Commander' and went
on with the conversation in German language.
We tried to get external viewers into NC but failed...
But... I found out how to do this, not via NC.CFG file.
But... with nc.ext (Norton extern)
You can not only install an external viewer but in fact any program...
even Arachne if there is a way to free enough memory for arachne.
The external program is activated by the extension and the ENTER key.
F9 - pull down menu, go to COMMANDS
choose: EXTENSION FILE EDIT
give the wanted extensions + action and full path
if done press F2 = save
press F10= quit
a new file has been written: nc.ext and i will show you mine:
========= nc.ext =============
htm: C:\norton\view.exe
wp5: C:\norton\view.exe
jpg: C:\dos-oud\picture\pv.exe
gif: C:\dos-oud\picture\pv.exe
bmp: C:\dos-oud\picture\pv.exe
ikn: C:\dos-oud\picture\pv.exe
doc: C:\norton\view.exe
==============================
Two ways of viewing are now available:
old one: point the file and press F3
new one: point the file and press ENTER
if the file has an extention mentioned in the nc.ext list like .GIF
than Norton goes to pv.exe (PICTURE VIEW) in directory \DOS-OUD\PICTURE
if the file is .DOC Norton goes to view.exe in norton directory.
you can state hundreds of extensions if you wish
(.IKN is recogniced by norton but not by Picture View :-< )
